Waltham Piety Corner Redesign To Resume In March

Waltham officials gave an update to the process, stating that the redesign will resume at some point this month, weather permitting.

WALTHAM, MA — The Piety Corner redesign project is set to resume some point in March, Waltham officials announced.

That restart to the project will come weather permitting, which means nor'easters will likely need to seize before more progress is seen. However, officials also updated residents on what's been done thus far.

During the fall and winter, the overhead wires were removed from utility poles that were "in the way of the new alignment of Totten Pond Road, and those utility poles have now been removed," officials said.

Now, roadway contractors have the ability to begin constructing the new segment of Totten Pond Road.

"Once the construction resumes, you will see the contractor building the new roadway, building the new sidewalks, and installing the new traffic signal equipment," officials said.

"Once the new alignment of Totten Pond Road is complete, traffic will shift over to this new alignment, providing a smaller, safer, and more efficient intersection. Then the existing pavement along Totten Pond Road that is no longer needed will be removed and replaced with grass."

The redesign is projected to be complete by the summer, according to officials.
