Jeanne M. Lenza was named 2013 Massachusetts History Teacher of the Year

A Waltham teacher was named the 2013 Massachusetts History of Teacher during a ceremony Thursday.
Jeanne M. Lenza, a 5th grade history teacher at the Thomas R. Plympton School in Waltham, received the honor as part of larger group of teachers who received honors.
Lenza joined the school in 2007 as a third grade teacher. In 2009, she began teaching 5th grade. She received the award during a ceremony at the Museum of Science in Boston.

“I thank these honorees for their deep commitment to preparing our students for success as responsible, productive citizens and as leaders within their communities,” Gov. Deval Patrick said in a statement. “Their dedication to teaching is an inspiration to us all. They understand the stake we have in the next generation and are the reason our students lead the nation.”
The Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Program recognizes teachers for their dedication, according to the statement.
