Waltham's New Ambulance Carries Legacy Of Late EMT

Armstrong Ambulance has a new, Waltham-based ambulance, named in honor of Mary Ann Vacherweill.

WALTHAM, MA — Armstrong Ambulance this week announced the addition of a brand new 2024 type-3 "box" truck dedicated to serving Waltham and remembering a late EMT.

The Waltham-based ambulance is dedicated to the memory of Mary Ann Vacherweill, a devoted EMT, Waltham resident, and beloved member of the EMS community who passed away earlier this year following a brief battle with ovarian cancer, company officials said.

Vacherweill was diagnosed in late April and died on June 10.

"She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, courage, and selfless service," company officials said, in a statement. "Known for her quiet grace, unwavering commitment, and dedication to putting others before herself, Mary Ann made a profound impact on the lives of patients, colleagues, and the Waltham community she proudly served."
