A caller claiming to represent a utility company says they're about to shut off service due to non-payment, police said on their Facebook page.

A local business lost $2,000 this week after falling for a scam, Westborough Police said Wednesday.

Police are alerting community members to the scam.

"Do not follow the instructions to obtain pack money orders from stores such as 7-11," police said.

"Please call your local police department to verify the authenticity of the call."
