K9 Finds Fleeing Man After Car Chase, OUI Crash: Westborough PD

The man reportedly hit a rotary, was pulled over, took off, crashed again and then ran into the woods.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—Early on Friday morning - 2:40 a.m. to be exact - police spotted a vehicle having trouble negotiating the rotary at Westborough center.

A vehicle headed from West Main Street directly to East Main Street, hitting the rotary with its right tires in the process. The officer who observed the violations immediately pulled out behind the vehicle and stopped it in the area of CVS on East Main Street. The officer approached the operator and requested their driver's license and vehicle registration, when the driver took off in the car.

A short pursuit ensued, following the car on East Main Street toward Southborough. Officers called Southborough for a heads-up.

A short time later, Westborough officers heard over the police radio that a vehicle crashed at the intersection of Route 85 and Framingham Road in Southborough. It was confirmed to be the same vehicle. The operator of the vehicle had fled into the woods.

Two Westborough officers responded to the area and assisted with establishing a perimeter of the area the suspect fled. A K9 officer from the Marlborough Police Department joined the scene to conduct a search for the suspect.

He was located and arrested.

Rafael Aguila, School Street, Webster, was charged with failure to stop for a police officer, marked lanes violation, operating after revocation for drunk driving, driving to endanger, operating after revocation of registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

Aguila will be facing additional charges from several other communities. Aguila was transported to Westborough District Court on Friday, June 8.
