"Brian and others were facing an impossible task, but they still tried to enter the home through a back door. The fire pushed the group back, but Brian ran around the house and tried to get in through a side door. Thick, heavy smoke ultimately deterred him from entering the structure. Brian risked his own safety, health and well-being to help, despite dangerous conditions," the town said of his efforts.

Evelyn McGlory, 86, was found dead inside the home after the fire. Firefighters braved exploding propane tanks during the blaze, which grew to two alarms.
