Westborough, Grafton Nonprofits Receive Tufts Grants
Each year, Tufts veterinary school gives out a multitude of grants to nonprofits doing good things.

GRAFTON, MA—Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University today announced the local nonprofit organizations that are receiving Cummings School Service Fund grants for the eighth year of the program.
These organizations address a variety of needs, from promoting literacy and outdoor education for K-3 students to enriching the community through the arts. The eight grant recipients this year are:
- Fales Parent Group for a “Storywalk Project” of laminated children's books mounted along a playground path to promote literacy and encourage outdoor education for Westborough K-3 students;
- Benjamin Franklin DeMolay in North Grafton to enable three local young men to attend a leadership training conference at Lion’s Pride Camp in New Hampshire;
- The Westborough Education Foundation for their Annual 5K Turkey Trot to promote health, fitness and fun and benefit district-wide initiatives in the Westborough Public Schools;
- MA State Police Museum & Learning Center for a Kids Safety Fair, which will offer art projects, and trooper-led talks on texting and impaired driving, along with other activities;
- The Claflin Hill Music Performance Foundation, Inc., to host an outdoor summer wind-instrument concert on the Grafton Common in August 2018;
- Congregation B'nai Shalom for their 40th Anniversary Festival, a family-friendly music event to be held in May 2019, featuring local talent, along with eight food trucks.
- Appletree Arts for The New Stones Festival of Arts on the Grafton Common in November 2018, a collaboration of three regional arts organizations that will feature photo and painting exhibitions; and
- Westborough Early Childhood Center for the purchase of Second Step, a social-emotional curriculum for the Westborough Public Schools’ pre-school program for children with special needs.
