Westborough Police Warn Of Gold Scam In Town
If someone tries to sell you gold in Westborough, it might be a scam, according to police.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — You probably don't usually buy gold from strangers out in public — and you'll want to keep that policy in place as you travel around Westborough.
Westborough police are warning residents about gold-selling scammers floating around town. According to police, a couple with a child have been approaching people offering to sell gold, claiming they need the cash to buy necessities.
"They'll offer you gold jewelry at a cheap price, so they can get gas, food, diapers, or other items. Don't fall for it! The gold jewelry might even have a 18K stamp, but it's fake," police said Friday.
