The Golden Ball Tavern is pleased to offer its Second Sunday Open House Tours every second Sunday of the month. After taking a long time away from public events during the pandemic, our volunteer guides are ready to welcome you to our historic house and tavern from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, April 10th, 2022.

You are welcome to come along and take a peek inside the pre-Revolutionary world of colonial Boston. At the Golden Ball Tavern in Weston Tory ties and British Spies were on tap and trouble was brewing. See where General Gage’s men stayed and strategized during a reconnaissance mission in 1775 just prior to the outbreak of war. Learn about the “other” tea party that took place at the Golden Ball three months after the Boston Tea Party in 1774. Here you will find over 200 years of Jones family history, stories and artifacts. Our knowledgeable and friendly tour guides will lead tours through the house and answer questions about the museum. It is a truly personal experience which is free and family friendly! We can’t wait to welcome you!

Upcoming events will include a beer tasting in June and our traditional annual Barn Sale in September - held on the last Saturday of the month for over 50 years. We will also re-open our online sale in the summer. Online talks are offered regularly and registration is always free. Visit our website www.goldenballtavern.org to learn more.

You will also find the Country Garden Club of Weston on the grounds of the museum from May 20th through May 22nd for their annual plant sale. Tours will be offered on Saturday, May 21st at part of the Weston Town Celebration.

The Golden Ball Tavern was built in 1768 by Loyalist-turned-Patriot Isaac Jones, a prominent Weston resident. He built it on the Boston Post Road, one of the most significant roadways of the day and one of our nation’s first highways. The Golden Ball Tavern played a pivotal role in the unfolding of the Revolutionary War when it served as a base for British spies in 1775. Our museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
