There’s a new dog in town in Westwood, namely Busy Paws Pet Supply. Located at 311 Washington St in Islington Center, this new store features a pet supply store, a groomer, and a “self-wash station.”

“I've been working in pet retail for the past couple of years and knew I wanted to stay in the field,” says owner Marissa Walion-Sheehy. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the time to think: I've always dreamt of being my own boss. So one thing led to another and with much encouragement from my husband we took the leap on opening up Busy Paws.”

Of the combination of pet supply store, groomer, and self-wash station, Walion-Sheehy reports that the storefront is the main focus at this time. She hopes to offer grooming once their hire a groomer.

“Storefront and grooming go hand in hand as a one-stop shop,” she explains. “As for the self-wash, we thought it would be a nice feature for our customers. Not every dog needs a full groom or a dog may need washing between grooming appointments. With the specially-made tub, it makes washing your dog a lot easier.”

Patch regulars will know that this writer has two cats she found via Westwood Patch. Many pet stores focus on dogs, with cats as an afterthought. Busy Paws’ cat section is very large and noteworthy. They have a selection of Yeowww Catnip toys, which cat parents know is the cat equivalent of Airpods.
