Convicted Westwood Attorney Faces Sentencing on Wednesday

The Boston Herald is reporting that high profile criminal defense attorney Robert George, a Westwood resident, will be asking a federal judge for a sentence of no more than 18 months when he appears in court on Wednesday.

The 57-year-old George, whose clients have included Francis "Cadillac Frank" Salemme and Christopher McGowen, the Cape Cod garbage collector convicted of the 2002 rape and murder of fashion writer Christa Worthington, was convicted by a jury in June of conspiring with a client secretly working with the DEA and former Dover Mortgage Broker Michael Hansen to launder nearly $250,000 in drug proceeds and for structuring bank transactions to evade reporting requirements.

George, who is currently suspended from practicing law, is represented by attorney Robert Goldstein, who wrote in a sentencing memorandum that his client has helped "dozens and dozens of people" over the years.
