New in Town: I Said "Westwood," why is This Confusing?

Or how being unclear can cause confusion around here.

Back when I lived on the North Shore briefly, their local Patch had a "New in town" feature where people who weren't from the North Shore could ask questions about its quirks. I'd love to start something similar with Westwood, so feel free to shoot your questions to HeatherTappen+New@gmail.com !

For today's lesson, may I take you back to earlier this year, when I bought something from the Westwood Yard Sale group on Facebook. I bought it, and then we discussed where to meet for the exchange (ALWAYS meet in a public place for this exchange, and bring another human if possible). The seller had listed their location as Westwood, MA, so I figured setting up a meeting point would be easy enough.

Me: What side of town are you on? [I was planning on offering up the library for Westwood, and the University Station parking lot for Islington].
Seller: I'm in Westwood.
Me: Awesome! Islington side or Westwood side?
Seller: I'm in Westwood.

We eventually sorted things out and met at the Mobil, but it brought up an important point: Westwood, in its triangularity, has two distinct sides: Westwood and Islington. Westwood hosts the eponymous high school, Thurston Middle School, Martha Jones, Deerfield, and Sheehan Schools. Islington is where both Islington and Route 128 train stations are located, as well as the Hanlon (née Pine Hill*) and Downey Schools.
Did you just move to Westwood? Do you have a question? Email me at HeatherTappen+New@gmail.com .

As always, please email me to tell me about what you would like to read about (and have your neighbors read about!) . Speaking of things to do while you're new in town, have you heard about the open positions on various town committees?
