Westwood's Lifeworks Appoints New Director Of Human Resources

Lifeworks, a nonprofit human services provider that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced today the appointment of Tammy Downing as director of human resources.

Downing brings more than a decade of HR industry experience to Lifeworks, where she will oversee all aspects of the agency’s human resources activities, including directing talent acquisition, employee training and development, and oversee all aspects of compliance with policies, laws and regulations supporting employees.

“We are excited to welcome Tammy to the growing Lifeworks family,” said Lifeworks CEO Daniel Burke. “She takes on a crucial leadership position that involves retaining and recruiting staff in a challenging hiring environment, while building a caring workforce dedicated to the individuals and families that we serve.”

Before joining Lifeworks, Downing was the director of human resources for a community health center in eastern Massachusetts and previously served as an HR generalist at a major Boston-area university. Downing earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount Ida College and a Master of Business Administration from American InterContinental University.

Lifeworks recently launched a major hiring effort to attract jobseekers interested in rewarding work in the human services profession. The agency serves thousands of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, who live and work throughout Greater Boston and MetroWest.
