Weymouth Bridge Stuck In Open Position Causing Major Traffic Delays

WEYMOUTH, MA — Parts of the South Shore are experiencing major traffic delays Friday morning due to a bridge that got stuck in the open position.

The Fore River Bridge in Weymouth is closed until further notice, the Weymouth Police Department said.

"Please avoid this area and expect heavy traffic in the landing," the department said in a tweet.

According to MassDOT, the bridge is causing massive delays on Route 3 north and south as many people are traveling for Memorial Day weekend.

All travelers are urged to find alternative routes and it is unclear when the bridge will reopen.
