Weymouth Election Results: Mayor Robert Hedlund Re-Elected

Here are the results from the Weymouth election.

WEYMOUTH, MA — Mayor Robert Hedlund was re-elected Tuesday after he ran against resident Edward Cowen in the mayoral race. Several councilors and School Committee members were also elected. Here are the preliminary results released by town officials.

Hedlund received 7,861 votes for mayor, while Cowen got 1,732 votes.

For the councilor at-large seats, five candidates were elected — Michael Molisse with 6,998 votes, Jane Hackett with 6,408 votes, Becky Haugh with 5,819 votes, Fredrick J. Happel Jr. with 5,604 votes and Christopher M. Heffernan with 4,732 Votes.

Two candidates lost the councilor-at-large race — Timothy Cronin with just 4,544 votes and Brian J. McDonald with 4,135 votes.

Three School Committee members were elected — Tracey Nardone with 6,204 votes, John Sullivan with 5,920 votes and Carrie Palazzo with 5,137 votes. Two other candidates lost the School Committee rates — Linda S. Rorie lost after getting 3,410 votes, and Aleshia Carlsen-Bryan fell short with 2,289 votes.

Pascale Burga won the District 1 councilor race after competing against Victor Pap III. Burga got 1,082 votes while Pap got 926 votes.

Maureen Kiely won the District 2 councilor race after receiving 837 votes. She was competing against James Lockhead, who got 637 votes.

In District 5, Ed Harrington won the council seat with 889 votes. He ran against Gary MacDougall, who lost with 456 votes.

Other council races were uncontested — Kenneth DiFazio was elected to the District 3 seat with 1,203 votes, Arthur Mathews was elected to District 4 with 932 votes and MIchael Smart was elected to District 6 with 1,476 votes.
