Wilmington Residents Graduates from Providence College
The college's ninety-seventh commencement exercises were held on Sunday, May 17.

Two Wilmington residents were among the more than 800 students from Providence College who received undergraduate degrees during the College’s Ninety-Seventh Commencement Exercises held on Sunday, May 17.
Wilmington residents receiving degrees were:
- Kyle Kirby, a resident of Wilmington, MA, received a bachelor’s degree
- Marisa Melanson, a resident of Wilmington, MA, received a bachelor’s degree Cum Laude;
The Commencement address was delivered by Darlene Love, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and star of the Academy-Award-winning documentary, 20 Feet From Stardom. She received an honorary doctorate in Music. Four other distinguished individuals received honorary degrees from the College. They are: Dr. Henry “Hank” Foley ‘77, Rev. Gustavo Gutierrez, O.P., Jane Lunin Perel, and Kevin C. Phelan ‘66.

Providence College is the only college or university in the United States administered by the Dominican Friars. The Catholic, liberal arts college has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 3,900 students and offers degrees in 49 academic majors. Since 1997, Providence College has consistently been ranked among the top five regional universities in the north according to U.S. News’ America’s Best Colleges.
