Father From Chelsea Dies After Being Pulled From Winchester Lake
Winchester police say Jose Garcia was swimming past the designated area when he became distressed.

WINCHESTER, MA — A father from Chelsea died after his body was pulled from a lake in Winchester over the weekend.
On Sunday, officers responded to Upper Mystic Lake off Sandy Beach for a report of a possible drowning around 4:37 p.m.
A dive team from Stoneham Fire Department located the man, who was later identified as Jose Garcia, 56, of Chelsea, and pulled him from the water. Garcia was taken to Winchester Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Winchester police said Garcia was swimming with family members before he became distressed in the water, prompting a witness to call 911. Officers say he was past the designated swimming area.
Earlier this month, a 52-year-old man also drowned after he fell off a raft and into the lake.
