 Why Go: America’s first female Secretary of State Madeleine Albright returns to Winchester on Friday, April 27.  Secretary Albright’s visit is in support of Connect & Commit, the community’s service-learning program. Her speech, which will be open to the public, will raise funds for Connect & Commit.

2. Spring Acapella Fest

Where/When: Saturday, April 28, 7:30 pm , 71 Mount Vernon St.

Why Go: Join the WHS Octets and Chamber Singers, and their special guests, MIT Logarhythms, BU Allegro, Similar Jones (non-college, adult pro group) for an evening of all a cappella vocal performances.

Cost: Tickets are $8 students/seniors; $15 adults; and Family Rate $40 (includes two adults and underage children).

Where/When: Sunday, April 29, 7 p.m. , 109 Skillings Rd, Winchester, MA

Why Go: Showcasing the music of bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim, popularly known for "The Girl from Ipanema," this concert will feature Winchester Community Music School faculty members Maurice Cahen, guitar; Joe Raia, saxophone; Mark Pucci, bass; Harvey Diamond, piano; and Andrew Jones, drums.

Cost: $10

Where/When: 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at , Church St & Waterfield Rd, Winchester

Why Go:“Take a Stand Against Racism” by coming to Winchester’s Town Common on Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 noon and join with other Winchester residents for just half an hour in a peaceful community demonstration to show that Winchester will not ignore or tolerate racism. The gathering, organized by the Winchester Multicultural Network, is part of a nationwide effort and part of the third annual “Stand Against Racism” weekend sponsored by the Boston YWCA. Let's show that Winchester is a community that is indeed taking a stand!

Cost: Free

Why Go: The Mishawum Choral Society will perform a choral ode to spring, directed by Sean Landers, accompanist Sarah Lafontaine.
