Winchester Delegation Announces $757,000 for Transportation and Infrastructure Improvements in Winchester

BOSTON—State Senators Jason Lewis and Pat Jehlen and State Representatives Michael Day and Michelle Ciccolo are pleased to announce that Winchester will receive $757,000 in Chapter 90 funds from the state to fund local transportation infrastructure. This funding, derived from a larger transportation bond bill, includes a one-time $300 million statewide allocation that delivers resources directly to municipalities across Massachusetts for road and bridge repairs and other transportation related improvements.

This larger $1.2 billion bond bill also authorizes:

• $500 million for the bridge and pavement Lifecycle Asset Management Program, which supports communities with non-federally aided roads and bridges projects.
• $200 million for repair and replacement of local culverts and small bridges.
• $185 million for projects that reduce congestion hotspots, including intersection improvements, railroad crossings, and sidewalks.

“I'm very pleased that the state legislature is providing these critical funds to our local communities for transportation improvements,” said Senator Jason Lewis. “I know that this money will be put to good use in Winchester improving roads, sidewalks, and other infrastructure.”

“This investment ensures that Winchester can make upgrades to the roads, sidewalks and crossings residents rely on every day,” said Representative Michael Day. “Funding Winchester’s transportation and infrastructure projects ensures that our downtown remains safe and booming for those living here and those who visit.”

“I am so glad to see Winchester receive this critical funding for infrastructure improvements,” said Senator Patricia Jehlen. “This funding is another example of why passing the fair share amendment was so crucial to ensure we can keep up with necessary projects in our community.”

“Our municipalities do critical work to maintain and improve our local infrastructure, and I was pleased to vote for this increased investment which will empower cities and towns across the Commonwealth,” said Representative Michelle Ciccolo.

The $300 million in annual Chapter 90 funds authorized by the Legislature goes directly to municipalities and represents a 50% increase from the $200 million the Legislature authorized last year.

After passing in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, this legislation was signed into law by Governor Maura Healey on August 8, 2025.
