150 Volunteers Help Woburn Seniors with Leaf Raking
Between Friday, November 15 to Saturday, November 16, over 150 volunteers raked leaves for 18 homes of Woburn seniors.
On Saturday, November 16th, Social Capital Inc. (SCI) hosted its annual SCI Volunteer Leaf Raking event to provide leaf removal assistance for seniors living in Woburn in partnership with the Woburn Council on Aging and Woburn Senior Center. Individuals, families, and groups such as the Pack 502 Scouts, Woburn Girl Scout Troop #84204, and U15 Girls Soccer Team, volunteered to rake leaves for seniors across Woburn. In total, there were 100 volunteers of all ages from and near Woburn who supported 14 seniors in need of assistance on Saturday.
Since 2015, the SCI Leaf Raking Event has connected people to local residents and seniors, making the annual event a fun, social, outdoor activity.
SCI also hosted its first Corporate Volunteer Day for SCI Leaf Raking on Friday, November 15. Four companies, Winchester Hospital, Minute Women Dementia Care Specialists, Eastern Bank, and Insperity, brought 46 volunteers to rake leaves for four homes of Woburn seniors.
