In partnership with the Woburn Council on Aging, Woburn Senior Center and the Woburn Public Library, Social Capital Inc. (SCI) is holding its annual Leaf Raking for Seniors event to provide leaf removal assistance for seniors living in Woburn. This year, SCI’s youth leaders in the Leaders for Everyone’s Tomorrow program will collaborate with SCI to coordinate the program.

SCI is seeking 200 volunteers of all ages to rake the yards of local seniors in need of help. Volunteers can sign up online at socialcapitalinc.org/sci-leaf-raking. SCI Program Manager, Nicole Osborne, encourages local residents to get involved: “This is a great experience for families and groups looking to get involved in the community, as well as students looking for community service hours.” Last year’s leaf raking event had 150 volunteers who raked leaves for 18 Woburn senior homes, filling a total of 951 bags. About their experience one volunteer shared: “I most enjoyed helping people in need and meeting a few people from my community.”

The general volunteer event will take place on Saturday, November 15th, with volunteer shifts available in the morning and afternoon. Coffee, water, and snacks will be available for all volunteers at registration.
