5T: After Work Block Party to Support One Fund Boston

Today is Friday, May 10. Here are five things to know:

1) Almost hot

Looks like a nice, nearly summer, day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect partly sunny skies with a high near 78 degrees. Scattered showers tonight with a low around 55.

2) Public meeting

The Woburn School Committee Policy Subcommittee is meeting at 9 a.m. in the Joyce Middle School Conference Room.

3) Block Party to Support One Fund Boston

Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill and Crowne Plaza will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the One Fund Boston today from 5 to 9 p.m.  The fundraiser will be taking place in the Scoreboard, Grand Ballroom and the on deck patio.  Tickets are a $10.00 donation. There will be live entertainment, a silent auction and a cornhole tournament. Click here for more information.

4) Women's self defense seminar

Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts is holding a women's self defense seminar this Friday and Saturday (separate classes) for women aged 13 and older. The seminar will feature both tips to avoid becoming a victim and basic martial arts moves that can be used if necessary. Click here for more information and to register.

5) Carnival!

The Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is hosting a carnival until Sunday, May 12, at the Showcase Cinema parking lot. The carnival fundraiser will feature rides, games and food. Featured rides this year include the Freak Out and the all new EXPO Wheel in addition to many more exciting carnival rides. There will also be a petting zoo daily. Click here for more information.
