Two Hurt After Cement Truck Overturns in Woburn

Two people, including a Woburn man, were hospitalized following a serious accident on Route 128 southbound near Exit 35.

An accident involving an overturned cement truck on Route 128 southbound in Woburn sent two victims to the hospital Thursday.

The truck rolled over near Exit 35 just before 12 p.m., according to the Massachusetts State Police. Multiple travel lanes and the exit’s off-ramp were closed for several hours. A wrecker was called in to right the truck.

A second vehicle was involved in the accident. Both drivers were transported to Lahey Hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Officials did confirm the truck driver was from New Hampshire. The other motorist was from Woburn. There names were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash is not clear at this time. All lanes have since been reopened to motorists.

Traffic was backed up for several miles, stretching all the way to Exit 41 in Wakefield, according to reports from the scene.
