Nov. 3 – At 12:46 a.m., police were dispatched to a single-car crash on Alfred Street near Fletcher Road. According to police, the 33-year-old driver said he had dropped his glasses and went off the roadway as he reached to the floor to get them. As he veered off the road, police said, he struck a pedestrian sign, an Alfred Street house, and two parked cars, before coming to a stop. The driver was cited for failure to drive within marked lanes.

POLICE LOG: Teens Mug Man in Wheelchair

Nov. 5 – At 6:01 p.m., police spoke to a Woburn man who said he was mugged by two teenage boys on Pleasant Street. According to police, the man, who is in a wheelchair, went to the Sovereign Bank ATM on Pleasant Street and was followed by two teenage boys. The man told police when he left the ATM, the boys started talking to him. Police reported that while the teens were talking, one suddenly grabbed $40 from the man’s hand and both ran. The teens are described as white males, about 13 to 17 years old. One was wearing a baseball cap and was “skinny,” said police.

 

POLICE LOG: Landlord Reportedly Releases Cat Without Permission

Nov. 6 – At 8:16 p.m., a police officer walking through the City Hall parking lot observed a woman crying and very upset. The officer spoke to the woman, who said that her cat was missing from her apartment. The woman told police that she believed her landlord or property manager let the cat out of her building. The officer forwarded the information to the animal control officer. The officer reported he searched the area of City Hall and downtown Woburn, but did not find the cat. The pet is described as a gray and white cat with no identifiable marks or tags. [Editor’s note: An update to this report, the cat was found on the common early Wednesday morning by the owner.]

 

POLICE LOG: Car Plummets Down Snowy Embankment

Nov. 7 – At 8 p.m., police were dispatched to Merrimac Street for a report of a single-car crash. According to police, a car skidded on the snow-covered road, went off the roadway, and sideswiped a tree before sliding down an embankment. The driver was able to get out of the car through the passenger-side door and called police. There were no injuries. The car was towed from the scene.

 

POLICE LOG: Neighbor Spits On Woman

Nov. 7 – At 8:53 p.m., police were called to Kimball Court for a report of an assault and battery between neighbors. According to police, one woman said a neighbor argued with her and when she walked away, the woman followed her and spit on her. Police advised the woman to follow up with the court if she chose to press charges. The building manager told police that there have been several previous incidents involving the two women.
