ICYMI: Local Organizations Receive $100K Grant from Cummings Foundation
In case you missed it, a handful of organizations in Woburn received a $100K for 100 grant from the Cummings Foundation.

A number of organizations in the City of Woburn were recipients of a Cummings Foundation $100K for 100 grant.
The City of Woburn Fire Department, Organization of Nurse Leaders, Woburn Council of Social Concern and Youth Villages all received a grant from the Cummings Foundation.
The Cummings Foundation, one of the largest private operating foundations in New England, awards $100,000 each to 100 local nonprofits each year. “This $10 million in funding supports a diverse range of causes, including human services, education, healthcare, and social justice,” according to the foundation’s website. “While some of these grants are made as single-year awards, most are multi-year awards, with payments spread over two to 10 years.”

According to the Cummings Foundation:
- The WFD received a grant to purchase state-of-the-art life-saving equipment that is expected to improve the out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rate and reduce lifting injuries among firefighters.
- The Organization of Nurse Leaders received funds to develop and expand the knowledge, practice and character of nursing leadership.
- The Woburn Council of Social Concern received a grant in support of programs providing citizens in need with services.
- The Youth Villages grant will be supporting its program “Transitional Living,” which helps young adults aging out of foster care learn skills and transition into independent lives, the foundation said.
The $100K for 100 was established by the Cummings Foundation in 2012, with 60 grants, the foundation said. It has since expanded to 100 grants of $100,000 each annually. Through the 100 grants and other programs, the Cummings Foundation has made recent contributions and commitments in excess of $100 million.
