Over $2K in Cash and Items Stolen from Apartment

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

At 6:51 p.m. police responded to a Bennett Street apartment on a report of a past theft. The callers, two roommates, said someone had been in their apartment. One caller sated he was missing $1,800 from a dresser in his bedroom. The other roommate said he was missing an Xbox 360 game console and a Playstation 3 game console from his bedroom.

The caller said they had left the apartment that morning with the door locked and that both bedroom doors were locked. One roommate left at 9:45 a.m. and other at 10:15 a.m. The theft was noticed that evening when they returned home.

Police checked the apartment and found no signs of forced entry. The bedroom doors were also not forced open. In the bedroom with the $1,800 in stolen cash there was jewelry and a laptop computer that were out in the open but not stolen.

The callers said they couldn’t think of anyone who had access to the apartment or bedrooms.

Other Incidents 

July 23-

At 1:10 p.m. police responded to a Prescott Street residence on a report of credit card fraud. The caller said he thought he had lost his credit card the week before and reported it stolen to his bank. He already had a new card with a new account number. However, when he checked his bank statement he saw that the card had been used twice at a gas station in Methuen. The card was used to buy $75 worth of fuel the first time and $25 the second time.

The caller said he had lost his card in the North Woburn Liquor Store on July 12. He said that while making his purchase he had placed the card on the counter. At that time there was another person in the story telling a funny story and the caller believes someone might have stolen his card while he listened.

Police checked with the store but could not see the caller on the surveillance tapes.

 

July 24-

At 11 a.m. police placed a 49-year-old Woburn woman into protective custody after the Woburn Elderly Housing reported an unwanted party.

The woman appeared intoxicated and was insulting to police when they arrived.

At 8:43 p.m. police responded to Walgreens on a report of a customer possibly attempting to use a stolen credit card.

An employee said that a black male had come into the store and attempted to use a $50 pre-paid Visa card. When the card didn’t work the employee asked for identification but the man refused. He left the card behind and left the store. No items were taken.

The male was described as about six feet tall and 175 pounds wearing a red hat with a white brim, a gray and white striped shirt, tan cargo-style shorts and white sneakers. He also had a black watch on his left wrist.

At 10:29 p.m. a caller on Lexington Street near the Cambridge Road intersection reported a black pick up truck with a Vermont license plate side swiped his vehicle and fled in the direction of Burlington. Units checked the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching that description.
