Police Detain Woburn Man With Meat Cleaver Outside Tsarnaev Sentencing

A Woburn man with a meat cleaver in his vehicle was detained outside federal court in Boston during the sentencing of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, according to published reports.

Patrick Carrerio, 24, reportedly drove through a security barrier and parked in a restricted area outside the courthouse on Wednesday, June 24, according to a report from CBS Boston. The Woburn man was handcuffed and detained by police.

Carrerio was attempting to express his belief against the death penalty, but did not threaten anyone with the meat cleaver, the report said.

According to Boston.com, Carrerio was arrested at the scene and charged with Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct and the Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
