At 7 p.m. police responded to an Eaton Avenue residence on a report of suspicious text messages from an unknown party. The caller said her daughter had been receiving text messages the past two days from someone claiming to be one of her friends. The text messages asked the daughter about her boyfriend and her sexual relationship with him, which she responded to believing she was speaking to a friend. When she realized the person she was texting was not the friend the person claimed it was they called police.
The friend in question confirmed to police it was not her sending the messages. The unknown person could be known to the caller’s daughter or found her on Facebook.
Police tried to call the number from where the text messages originated but it came back to a “pinger number,” which can be used on the internet to send messages to someone anonymously. Police advised the caller to have their phone company block the number.
At 7:31 p.m. police issued a citation for unregistered use of a motor vehicle to a driver following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Main Street and Coolidge Street. The driver was operating a vehicle with expired/nonrenewable plates. The vehicle was also towed.
