Police Logs: Pedestrian Grazed in Hit and Run Accident
An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

At 10:54 a.m. police responded to the intersection of Main Street and Abbott Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. According to the report a pedestrian was crossing in a clearly marked crosswalk on Abbot Street when a vehicle exiting Abbott Street made a left turn and grazed him with the side of the vehicle. The operator never stopped.
The pedestrian made not of the registration number, as did his son who was beside him.

There was also a woman sitting on a bench outside of the court who said she saw the incident. The said the car “sped up” after hitting the man. The man, his son and the woman all said they saw the operator was a white man about 40 years old.
Other Incidents
May 7-
At 1:22 p.m. police responded to a Summit Street residence on a report of malicious damage to property.
Police spoke to the caller who said he believes someone intentionally destroyed areas of his front and side lawn. Upon inspection police state that it appears the lawn in these areas had a path of dead grass in the middle of an otherwise healthy lawn, as if someone had used a liquid sprayer and used a side-to-side motion of the wand while walking through the yard.
The caller said he has not had any landscape work done with any kind of fertilizer or insect repellent. He could not think of any reason why anyone would vandalize his property.
Police advised him to take a soil sample to the county agricultural lab to see if any volatiles or grass killer could be located.
At 5:54 p.m. police responded to a Mount Pleasant Street residence on a call of a disturbance.
The caller said that when she was walking down the street a man in the neighborhood began yelling obscenities at her and that he had a large fork in his hand and was pointing it at her. She said she had never had any issues with the man before and kept walking.
Police went to the man’s residence and after knocking and getting no response entered the dwelling after announcing themselves. They found the man in the kitchen holding a large fork and a knife. After numerous commands to put down the items he eventually did.
The man denied any knowledge of yelling at the caller. He appeared in an altered state of mind and suffers from mental health issues. He was advised to leave his neighbor alone and he agreed.
At 6:41 p.m. a woman and her grown son came to the lobby to report past threats. The woman said that on May 2 her son and his girlfriend were sitting out front when a female neighbor came over and started yelling at them about something. The son told her to mind her own business. She then allegedly told him that she had friends in the “mafia,” specifically the “Winter Hill Gang” [Whitey Bulger's gang] and she would have people come and beat him up.
The next day the neighbor’s husband came up to the woman reporting the issue and said if anyone came over to his house he will take car of them physically, which she took as a threat.
Police advised her to report the incident to the Woburn Housing Authority and to report to police if this continues.
May 8-
At 10:11 a.m. police responded to Market Basket on a report of a motor vehicle break-in. Police spoke to the caller who said she arrived at the store at 7:30 a.m. to do representative work for Kelloggs. She stated she left her purse in the front foothold of her vehicle under the seat. The purse and its contents were taken during the break.
Items included a Nokia cell phone, $30 in money, her license and other identifying information. Police advised the caller to cancel all credit cards.
Entry was gained by smashing the driver’s side window.
