Woburn City Council Approves Seaver Development Townhouses

41 townhouses will be built on the former Nelco site in North Woburn.

The Woburn City Council unanimously votd to grant a special permit to Seaver Properties LLC to build 41 townhouses on the former Nelco site in North Woburn.

The aldermen waived normal buffer zone requirements, allowing 25 feet between the proposed buildings and adjacent commercial proper, rather than the 70 feet specified in the Woburn zoning code. The new Seaver development would not have happened if not for a new ordinance that passed last month that gave the council discretion to override buffer zone regulation.

The aldermen believe the townhouse project is beneficial because it will transform a previously unusable property into a residential one.

As a condition to the permit, Seaver would build a new access road linking an isolated neighborhood with Dexter Avenue.
