Woburn OKs $35M Bond for New Elementary School
The new Hurld-Wyman School will built at the old Spence Farm on Wyman Street.

Woburn’s City Council Finance Committee has approved a $35 million bond for the construction of a new elementary school.
A new Hurld-Wyman Elementary School will be built on a four-acre slab of land located at the old Spence Farm on Wyman Street. The remaining vacant land at the farm will be preserved by the Woburn Agricultural Commission.

Property taxes in Woburn will increase by roughly $60 per year over a 30-year period, Mayor Scott Galvin noted. The state of Massachusetts will pay for over half of the project’s cost as part of the School Building Association.
Richard Gately, Woburn’s Ward 2 Alderman, reportedly called the $35 million cost a “good figure.”
