WOBURN, MA — November has arrived and with it comes another year of participation in the annual Home Base No Shave initiative for some Woburn Police personnel, police announced last week.

The Woburn Police Department first participated in the program in 2019. It is now joining the fundraising campaign again in 2022 for a fourth consecutive year.

The No Shave program raises money for the Home Base organization and its work to support veterans facing post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and other invisible wounds.

Home Base has raised upward of $1.2 million throughout its history to support mental health and brain injury care, as noted in a separate statement from the Reading Police Department this week.

The Woburn Police are, indeed, far from the only department participating in no shave efforts this month, with upward of 130 departments across the country taking part to date.

In addition to Reading, participating area departments include police in Arlington and Medford.
