WOBURN, MA — Woburn Public Library has a new assistant director, the library announced Monday nearly a year after the library's leadership resigned.

The library's director and assistant director both resigned in February following a public battle with the mayor. Hermayne Gordon was initially named interim assistant director, and then in Aug. sworn in as library director.
The assistant director's role is to "help coordinate between staff in different departments and keep day to day operations running smoothly," Kass said in a question-and-answer shared by the library.

"I've been working in public libraries for 19 years," Kass said. "I love seeing people's faces light up when they talk about a book, movie or tv show they just finished and enjoyed, and I want to hear all about it. I think libraries have a lot to offer for everyone, and I love when I can help make that happen."
