WOBURN, MA — Woburn Public Schools will increase pay for substitute teachers in 2022, Superintendent Matthew Crowley announced Wednesday.

The School Committee recently approved a $30 per day pay increase for substitutes, amid a district-wide need, Crowley said.

Woburn substitutes will now make $125 per day, up from $95 in 2021.

"Substitute teachers make valuable contributions in all of our schools by stepping up to fill the void when a full-time teacher is out sick or on leave," Crowley said. "We believe this change better reflects the important role substitutes play in educating our students."

Most substitutes will have the opportunity to work several days a week, Crowley said. Anyone who has at least two years of post-secondary education is encouraged to apply at woburnpublicschools.com.
