One Woburn mother who lost her son in the 2012 Benghazi attacks could not bear to watch Hillary Clinton testify at an investigative hearing Thursday.
On Sept. 11. 2012, Barbara Doherty learned that her son Glen had been killed in an assault by Islamic militants. Glen was stationed at a US diplomatic base in Libya.

“I hope this is the end of it,” Barbara told the Boston Globe of the ongoing Benghazi investigations.
Glen, 42, was one of three other Americans who were also killed in the attack. His mother described him as a man who was well-liked by everyone. Glen served as a federal contractor.

Instead of watching Clinton’s testimony, which included several mentions of Doherty’s name, Barabara tended to her garden at her home in Woburn.
She told the newspaper that she knew dozens of federal contractors who were killed in a war zone. The Doherty family has tirelessly worked to change the Defense Base Act, which requires contractors to take out an insurance policy ahead of deployment.
Barbara feels questioning Clinton is not the right course of action and that Congress should be focused on overhauling the Defense Base Act.
“My child died defending the country and the government says sorry but no one does anything to change the law,” she told the newspaper.
