Woburn Woman Sentenced In Death Of 91-Year-Old Arlington Man
The woman pleaded guilty to a 2015 accident in Arlington.

CAMBRIDGE - A Woburn woman received a suspended jail sentence and five years probation after pleading guilty on Wednesday to a 2015 fatal accident where she hit and killed a 91-year-old man in a crosswalk in Arlington.
In Cambridge District Court on Wednesday, Berta Rodriguez, 62, of Woburn, pleaded guilty to motor-vehicle homicide by negligent operating and a crosswalk violation in connection with the March 23, 2015 death of 91-year-old William Dotson, of Arlington, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Judge Roanne Sragow sentenced Rodriguez to one year in jail, but suspended the sentence for five years while she is on probation. While on probation, Rodriguez must complete 200 hours of community service. Her driver's license is suspended for 15 years.

Arlington police reported officers were waved down at 11:08 a.m. by a motorist who told them that a man had been hit by a car at the intersection of Varnum Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Police saw a man lying in the street suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a car while he was in the crosswalk. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rodriguez stayed at the scene following the crash.
