Cute Kitty Clips Break the Net on National Cat Day

As Mark Twain said, “If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow; but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.”
But cat lovers can say plenty about their beloved “babies,” and do. And surely cat lovers needed a special day in which to feel more comfortable about sharing shots and videos of their furbabies drinking from the faucet, stretching in a sun patch, or just sitting there looking cute.

Some folks came up with National Cat Day to do just that. The goal is to “explode the internet every Oct. 29.”
National Cat Day says that “through our large social media and press platform, all year long we’re able to partake in the wonderful world of cats and put the plight of cats in shelters, center stage. We educate literally millions all year long but on Oct. 29....it’s party time!”

Started in 2005, the day is to celebrate cats and encourage adoption, as opposed to buying from pet stores. The day is also one to spoil your cat a bit more and share your photos and videos on social media pages.
National Pet Day, along with its sponsors, offers a“Most Lovable Shelter Cat” contest, as well as a ”Cat Parent Contest,” in which winners can land supplies of Blue brand food.
In Boston, MA, cat lovers welcome again the Internet Cat Video Festival to the Berklee Performance Art Center. The festival features clips that range from funny to educational. As WCVB-TV reports, the event started in 2012 in Minnesota.Fans are encouraged to come dressed in family friendly cat attire.
