Man Dies Following Head-On Crash In Wrentham

Police say a second person was seriously injured in the Route 1 collision.

WRENTHAM, MA — A 50-year-old Assonet man died Tuesday evening and a second person was seriously injured following a head-on crash in Wrentham, said Massachusetts State Police in a news release.

Officers assigned to the state police barracks in Foxboro responded to the Route 1 southbound crash at approximately 7:25 p.m., said the news release.

The incident involved a 2009 Toyota Tacoma, driven by the man who died in the crash, and a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Nissan was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via Medflight and the scene was cleared around 10 p.m.

The names of the two people involved in the crash have not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
