MI Man Opens Fire On Police Station: Cops

There were no injuries in the shooting, according to police.

SALINE, MI — A Manchester man was arrested Sunday morning after firing shots at a southeast Michigan police station, according to police.

The incident happened at 8 a.m. Sunday morning at the Saline Police Station, according to police.

Police said a 39-year-old man entered the station's parking lot and called its dispatch, telling the operator that he was suicidal and wanted police to shoot him.

The man then fired three rounds, which at least one was directed at the police station, according to police.

The man was arrested in connection with the shooting minutes later, according to police.

He was unharmed and police confiscated two handguns, according to police.

Investigators learned that troopers responded to the man's home for a call about him being suicidal earlier in the day, according to police.

Troopers interviewed the man over the phone as he had already driven away from his home and toward the police station, according to police.

"This incident is still under investigation, and we are determining what charges will be submitted to our Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. However, remember that this subject is being provided the help he needs," Saline Police Chief Marlene Radzik said. "This incident highlights the importance of mental health support and the challenges faced by law enforcement when dealing with individuals in crisis."
