Michigan DNR: Join Conservation Officers In Fight Against Hunger At Upcoming Food Drives

Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are partnering with local law enforcement agencies for food-collection efforts Saturday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 7. Officers will be at Kroger grocery stores in Farmington Hills, Lansing and Saginaw to accept nonperishable food donations to be shared with local food banks.
Saturday, July 31, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saginaw Kroger, 4672 State St.
Saturday, Aug. 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Farmington Hills Kroger, 37550 12 Mile Road.
- Lansing Kroger, 6430 W. Saginaw Highway.
It's all part of Kroger's annual First Responders Food Drive, an effort uniting firefighters, local law enforcement, emergency first responders and others in tackling hunger at the community level.

"Conservation officers are strategically placed to serve the communities they live in," said Capt. David Malloch, DNR Law Enforcement Division. "We're excited to continue this annual partnership with Kroger and local law enforcement to help raise community awareness about the fight against hunger."
The Foodbank Council of Michigan said that since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 there are more people needing food than ever before, and that last winter almost 2 million Michiganders were uncertain where their next meal would come from.
Michigan conservation officers are fully commissioned law enforcement officers responsible for providing natural resources protection, ensuring recreational safety and protecting residents through general law enforcement and lifesaving operations in the communities they serve. They also regularly partner on community enrichment activities such as food drives, holiday toy collections and other opportunities to provide local support.
