A northern Michigan town saw its coldest temperature ever recorded​ Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

GAYLORD, MI — A northern Michigan town saw its coldest temperature ever recorded Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures hit -21 degrees in Gaylord at 5:24 a.m. Sunday, breaking its previous record of -10 degrees on Dec. 22 2989, according to the weather service.

Other areas of northern Michigan also saw dangerously cold temperatures over the weekend, including -17 in Grayling and -9 in Petoskey, according to the weather service.
