Small MI Town Beats Out Times Square For Best New Year's Eve Ball Drop

MICHIGAN — A small northern Michigan town beat out Times Square for the best New Year’s Eve ball drop in the nation, according to USA Today readers.

Ludington, a small town located on the Lake Michigan shoreline, came out on top for the nation's best ball drop on New Year’s Eve, according to the ranking.

Ludington’s ball drops at midnight at the intersection of Ludington Avenue and James Street. The event is accompanied with fireworks.

The event, which has been running for 15 years, draws roughly 10,000 each year.

Ludington was the only Michigan town to make the list, while Times Square came in tenth.
