White Christmas In MI? Long-Range Outlook Released By Weather Service
With Christmas Day now in the long-range weather outlook, does a white Christmas look likely?
MICHIGAN — A white Christmas across Michigan is looking less likely this year, according to the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service.
The weather service released its 8-14 day outlook, and it shows Michigan's chances for snow on the ground on Christmas Day is "leaning below."
Additionally, most of Michigan has a "leaning above" probability of above normal temperatures. Only southeastern Michigan is expected to see "near normal" temperatures on Christmas Day.

A white Christmas is defined by at least one inch of snow on the ground. In the Detroit area, that has only happened 29 times since 1958, according to National Weather Service data.
The snowiest Christmas in the Detroit area was back in 1973, when there were 7 inches of snow on the ground, according to National Weather Service data.

As of Friday afternoon, forecasters expect temperatures to warm up across the Michigan this weekend and into next week. Here is the full forecast for the metro Detroit area:
Saturday: Rain (Late); High 37, Low 31
Sunday: Rain; High 42, Low 37
Monday: Rain (Early); High 52, Low 36
Tuesday: Cloudy; High 43, Low 30
Wednesday: Cloudy; High 38, Low 26
