Detroit Area Woman Dies In Bicycle Crash On Mackinac Island: Police

MACKINAC ISLAND, MI — An elderly woman died Wednesday in a bicycle crash with a carriage on Mackinac Island, according to police.

Police said the 77-year-old Huntington Woods woman was riding her bicycle in the area of Main Street and Bogan Lane at 2:15 p.m. when she collided head-on with a carriage.

Officials took the woman to McLaren Hospital in Petosky where she died, according to police.

Officials did not release her name.

It was unclear if anyone in the carriage was injured in the crash.

Police were still investigating the crash.
