Halloween Haunts Berkley This Weekend

Youngsters are invited to wear their costumes Saturday during the Spooky Skatacular and the Spooktacular Carnvial.

Halloween may not officially be until Wednesday, but Berkely is getting warmed up this weekend with a pair of spooky events.

Youngsters are invited to wear their costumes to the Spooky Skatacular and the Spooktacular Carnvial, put on by the Parks & Recreation Department and Berkley Junior Women's Club. Read on for details!

Spooky Skatacular

  • When: 5-7 p.m. Saturday.
  • Where: Berkley Ice Arena.
  • Cost: Admission is free for those in costumes. Rental skates cost $2.
  • Why go: Kids can hit the ice in costume during the third annual event. Those who dress up will receive a goodie bag and prizes.

Halloween Spooktacular Carnival

  • When: 6-7 p.m. or 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday
  • Where:Berkley Community Center
  • Cost: Tickets cost $4; there are a limited number for each session. They are available from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Community Center.
  • Why go: Dress up your little ones, have their pictures taken with the Great Pumpkin and enjoy a carnival with prizes, candy and games.
  • What else: This event, put on by the Berkley Parks & Recreation Department and Berkley Junior Women's Club, is designed for children from age 3 through fifth grade who live in Berkley or attend the Berkley School District. Call 248-658-3470 for more information.
