Holy Cannoli's Sells Sweet Treats At Eastern Market

Here's a piece of information to make weekend outings to Eastern Market in Detroit even sweeter: Holy Cannoli's sells the Berkley shop's sweet treats each Saturday in Shed 2.

The hand-piped Italian pastries are available from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until supplies run out, said Steven Franey, whose wife Nicole Franey and mother-in-law Cathy Schulte run the shop.

"(Eastern Market) is a great place to not only market our product, but to give people an opportunity to try our product. We try to go to any local festivals," added Franey, who said his wife was representing the business Saturday at the Buy Michigan Now Festival in Northville.

Holy Cannoli's also has a shop in Rochester.

Wait a minute. If the Franeys work all week and hit markets and festivals on the weekends, do they ever get to see each other?

"We get to see each other at 11 o'clock when my wife gets home," Franey said. "She puts in a lot of hours, but if you love what you do, that's all that matters."
