The Michigan Department of Transportation reported a traffic incident Wednesday evening on westbound Interstate 696 at Coolidge Highway. The road was closed as of 6:20 p.m. due to a fire hazard involving one vehicle, according to MDOT. Traffic was backed up as far as the Woodward Avenue overpass, according to witnesses. No further information was immediately available.
