'Serial Bank Robber' May Have Struck Again, FBI Says

Authorities believe a serial bank robber hitting up banks around Oakland County, including on Jan. 28 in Berkley, may be responsible for the Tuesday robbery of a Beverly Hills bank.

According to WXYZ, a man robbed the Independent Bank in Beverly Hills — located just south of 14 Mile on Southfield — on Tuesday morning.

Contrary to other media reports, it was the only robbery Tuesday in which the man is a suspect, Federal Bureau of Investigation Public Affairs Specialist Simon Shaykhet said Thursday.

The suspect wore a black coat, pants and a ski mask during the Tuesday robbery, along with a shirt and tie under his coat, according to authorities. 

The FBI believes the man may have been involved in the following robberies during the past three months:

• Dec. 18: 7-Eleven, 815 W. 11 Mile Road in Madison Heights
• Dec. 20: PNC Bank, 28841 John R in Madison Heights
• Dec. 26: 
• Jan. 15: 
• Jan.28: 
• Feb. 8: Comerica Bank at 1712 W. Maple in Birmingham
• Feb 22:

The FBI is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to the man's arrest and conviction. 

The suspect is described as male between 5-feet 8-inches and 6-feet tall with a medium build, the FBI said. During the Berkley robbery, he was dressed all in black and wore a mask that obscured most of his face, Berkley Public Safety Deputy Director Robert North said.
