Thornetta Davis Kicks Off Concerts in the Park Series

Spectators packed Scotia Park in Huntington Woods on Tuesday to enjoy the seasonal tradition.

The bluesy sounds of Thornetta Davis kicked off the Concerts in the Park series Tuesday at Scotia Park in Huntington Woods.

Spectators enjoyed the warm, sun-dappled evening while camped out on blankets and in lawns chairs as children frolicked, neighbors chatted and the Huntington Woods Aquatics Club sold refreshments.

Huntington Woods Parks & Recreation Recreation Supervisor Colette Nutton took the stage to introduce Davis and told the crowd the first concert each year marks the unofficial start of summer in the city – although she acknowledged others believe the opening of the pool or the start of youth camps kick off the season.
