Give Back to Birmingham Police Officer Fighting Cancer Tuesday

Stop by, buy a drink or grab some dinner at Dick O'Dow's Tuesday afternoon, and you'll be helping raise money for a Birmingham Police officer fighting cancer.

From 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, the Birmingham Police Department will be raising funds to help Officer Phil Lai, a six-year veteran of the force currently fighting spindle cell sarcoma.

"Lai is the heart and soul of this department, and we want to help him," Ellen DeView, staff and services coordinator for the Birmingham police told The Birmingham Eccentric earlier this month. "He's been unable to work for some time."

If you go, tickets are $25 per person and include a drink and buffet meal. The evening will also include a 50/50 raffle and silent auction, with all proceeds going toward the Lai family.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or beforehand by contacting DeView at 248-530-1869.
